Buffon: Juventus aims to challenge for the Champions League

The Bianconeri, on their return to Europe's most sought-after competition, will compete at the highest level after two years of exile according to their talisman
Juventus is aiming to re-establish itself among Europe's elite, with Gianluigi Buffon insisting that the Italian side is looking to win the Champions League on its return to the competition.The Turin-based club won the Serie A title last season, going unbeaten during the whole league campaign, but their preparations for the new season have been hit by their coach Antonio Conte's 10-month suspension following his role in the Scommessopoli match-fixing scandal. 
Despite this setback Buffon believes the club is prepared to challenge on all fronts this season. 
"When you play for a side like Juve you have the ambition and aspirations to try to win everything," the 34-year-old told reporters. 
He admitted that it had been the team's desire to earn a place in the Champions League last season, and that after winning the Scudetto it earned the right to play in Europe's most prestigious competition.  "It’s the right reward for a side who last season achieved something great," Buffon stated. 
"It is normal that the fans dream of success, just as much as it is normal for players and staff to remain grounded.
"[However] It’s a different environment with respect to last year, there’s more positivity and belief around the place now."
Juventus starts its Serie A campaign against Parma on August 25.
